Malinda Gayle “Mindy” McCready (November 30, 1975 – February 17, 2013) was an American country music singer. Active since 1995, she recorded a total of five studio albums. Her debut album, 1996′s Ten Thousand Angels, was released on BNA Records and was certified 2× Multi-Platinum by the RIAA, while 1997′s If I Don’t Stay the Night was certified Gold. 1999′s I’m Not So Tough, her final album for BNA, was less successful, and she left the label. A self-titled fourth album followed in 2002 on Capitol Records.
Overall, McCready’s four studio albums have accounted for twelve singles on the Billboard country singles charts. This figure includes the Number One hit “Guys Do It All the Time”, as well as the Top Ten hits “Ten Thousand Angels” and “A Girl’s Gotta Do (What a Girl’s Gotta Do)”. Although she had not charted a single since 2002, McCready received significant media coverage regarding her personal life. McCready’s critically acclaimed fifth studio album, I’m Still Here, was released in March 2010 on Iconic Records and is available on Amazon & iTunes. McCready had sold over 3 million albums according to the RIAA.

“It’s been a difficult month for Mindy McCready, and unfortunately, E! News has learned that the country singer’s life has come to end far too soon. “

“A source close to the 37-year-old tells us her body was found in Heber Springs, Ark.”

“Things have been hectic. But I’m still here..,” the star tweeted in January.”

“Mindy McCready, the troubled country singer who rose to stardom in the mid-‘90s, engaged in a long affair with former Yankee pitcher Roger Clemens, then battled a litany of personal problems in the wake of her success, including broken romances, suicide attempts, and very public attempts at rehab, died of an apparent suicide Sunday in Heber Springs, Ark.”

“Cleburne County (Ark.) Sheriff Marty Moss confirmed McCready’s death. She was 37.”

“Moss told The News Sheriff’s deputies arrived at McCready’s home Sunday about 3:30 p.m. after reports of gun shots. The deputies found “Ms. McCready deceased, from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head,” Moss told the Daily News. He added that her body will be taken to a state crime lab in Little Rock and that her death is still under investigation. Moss said McCready’s family members had been notified.”

“McCready’s brother, Josh, had confirmed his sister’s death to the Daily News Sunday, but did not have any further information.”

“I don’t have a lot of details,” Josh McCready said.
